The Board of Fire Commissioners of the New Lenox Fire Protection District, Illinois, is accepting applications for the position of Firefighter/Paramedic.

Firefighter Minimum Requirements:

• $25 non-refundable application fee
• United States citizen
• No felony convictions
• Must be 21 years of age, and under 35 years of age at time of conditional offer of hire, or as otherwise exempt by statute
• High school diploma (or its equivalent)
• Valid driver's license
• Current Illinois or National registry EMT-Basic License and proof of enrollment in or completion of certified paramedic training program due at time or application; or Illinois or National registry Paramedic License preferred.
• Candidates MUST be currently enrolled in a paramedic (EMT-P) program OR have completed an EMT-P class and currently in certification process and must obtain their EMT-Paramedic License by the end of their probationary period (18 months).
• OR be a licensed/certified EMT-P.
• Candidates are required to successfully test into Illinois Region 7-Silver Cross EMS System
• Illinois Firefighter II or Basic Operations Firefighter Certificate issued by the Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM)
• Valid Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) card and approved Ladder Climb Card due at time of application (issued within one year of application deadline) and at time of conditional offer of employment (issued within one year of conditional offer acceptance date)
• Residency required within the State of Illinois 

Virtual Testing Information:

Testing will be offered during business hours within the week of December 15th.

There will be no evening or weekend sessions available.

Oral Interview:

Applicants who successfully pass the written exam will be scheduled for an oral interview with the Fire District's Fire Commission. Dates and times of interviews will be assigned by the Fire Commission.

All phases of testing are mandatory. If you fail to attend or do not successfully complete any portion of the testing process, you will not be eligible for employment consideration at the New Lenox Fire Protection District.
