The Village of Leland, Illinois is currently seeking applications from experienced, ILETSB certified Police Officers for Part-Time employment.

The applicant will perform duties to include but not limited to:
- Enforcing traffic, criminal laws and local ordinances
- Provide emergency response as needed
- Write reports
- Handle traffic crashes
- Attend court as needed
- Maintain department and ILETSB minimum mandatory training requirements
- Handle any and all other duties assigned
Minimum qualifications include:
- MUST BE a graduate of either a full-time or part-time sworn Illinois law enforcement officer training program, currently State of Illinois Certified (or eligible), or have the appropriate training and certification from another state that is compatible with Illinois training requirements set forth by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board (ILETSB)
- 21 years of age at time of appointment (no upper age limit restrictions)
- Be a U.S. Citizen for at least one year
- High school graduate (or equivalent GED)
- Possess a valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record
- Possess a valid FOID card (or the ability to successfully obtain a valid FOID card by date of hire)
- Good moral character
- Positive attitude
- Good mental and physical condition
- No felony or domestic violence convictions
- No negative work history (i.e., termination, resignation while under investigation, or resignation subsequent to an investigation)
- Must have a maximum uncorrected visual acuity of 20/200 that is correctable to at least 20/40 -AND- be free from color-blindness -AND- the ability to drive at night
Selection Process:
Each phase of the process is pass/fail and required to proceed to the next:
- Pre-screening interview by police department command staff
- Character and background investigation and credit check
- Interview with the Command Staff and Village Mayor or their designee
Post offer examinations including but are not limited to:
- Psychological evaluation
- Medical examination
- Vision screening
- Drug screening
