Part-Time Police Officer Crystal Lake Park District – Park Services Division

Great opportunity for retired officers as hours are very flexible. 

Schedule:

Weekday Afternoons + Weekend Shifts Required

Do you take pride in serving your community and protecting neighborhood spaces where families gather, recreate, and enjoy nature?

The Crystal Lake Park District is seeking dedicated and community-minded Part-Time Police Officers to support the safety and security of our parks, facilities, and patrons.

As a Park District Police Officer, you will:

• Enforce District ordinances, rules, and regulations professionally and respectfully
• Engage in community policing and provide helpful information to park users
• Protect public spaces, natural resources, and recreational environments
• Respond to first aid and public assistance calls
• Conduct security checks of facilities and park areas
• Support safe recreational operations and special events
• Maintain accurate reports, documentation, and activity logs
• Assist in wildlife response, traffic control, building checks, and more 

Every shift is different — you'll actively contribute to the safety and enjoyment of thousands of visitors who use the parks throughout the year.

Who You Are:

You are a trained and motivated law enforcement professional who:

• Is a Certified Police Officer in Illinois (required)
• Has a bachelor's degree in criminal justice, psychology, or related field preferred
• Has a minimum of 2 years' experience in law enforcement, recreation, or natural resource environments
• Understands community policing and has strong public engagement skills
• Possesses sound judgment and the ability to manage stressful/emergency situations
• Is physically capable of active fieldwork (walking, lifting up to 50 lbs., weather exposure, etc.)
• Holds a valid driver's license, is 21+ years old, and is a U.S. Citizen
• Has current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications (or ability to obtain) 

A strong interest in natural resource preservation and park safety is a plus!
