How to Apply:
Police Officer Minimum Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship
- Resident in the State of Illinois
- No felony convictions (Note: a misdemeanor or serous traffic offense may also disqualify applicants for further consideration}
- Valid state issued driver's license
- Possess 20/20 corrected vision
- Minimum 20 years of age at time of application and at least 21 years of age a time of conditional offer of employment
- Be under 35 years of age at time of application, unless exempt from age limitation as provided in Section 5/10-2.1-6 (65 ILCS 5/10-2.1-6(d)) of the Fire and Police Commissioners Act
- Be a high school graduate or possess a GED equivalent
- Completed a minimum of 60 credit hours as an accredit college, university or junior college OR have one years of active military or naval service and honorable discharge OR currently a certified police officer in the State of Illinois
- Applicants are not obligated to disclose expunged juvenile recourse of adjudication, arrest, or conviction as part of the application process
- Possess a valid POWER test card dated no earlier than December 23, 2024
Testing Information:
Eligible candidates will be required to attend the mandatory testing.
Virtual Testing:
Week of January 26, 2026
Testing session(s) will be offered during business hours. No weekend or evening sessions will be available.
