Position Details

North East Multi-Regional Training, MTU # 3, seeks a Program Manager for Special Projects with a strong background in law enforcement training, to include the coordination, implementation and delivery of high-quality training courses.

This individual will manage both the in-house and special projects course programs at NEMRT, a non-profit corporation operating as Mobile Team Unit # 3 of the ASSIST program.

NEMRT uses its $3M + annual budget to provide basic, refresher, advanced and specialized training to local law enforcement agencies.

The main responsibilities of this position are to advance the mission of NEMRT by providing comprehensive leadership in the planning, development, coordination and delivery of specialized training initiatives. The nature of this work involves extensive written and verbal communication both in-house and externally, accurate data entry, and ability to work independently on multiple projects with competing priorities.

Qualifications:

Two years' attendance at an accredited college or university with major course work in public administration, criminal justice administration, secondary education, or a related field is preferred, and several years of practical experience in training or education in any of these fields; or, any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience which provides the following skills, knowledge, and abilities.

• Thorough knowledge of business English, grammar, spelling and mathematics and the ability to communicate effectively in English in both written and verbal form including the preparation of technical and business reports.
• Knowledge of the principles and techniques involved in providing specialized law enforcement training programs.
• Knowledge of SAFE-T Act legislation and Illinois law enforcement training mandates.
• Experience in curriculum design, adult learning techniques, and training objective development preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities in a timely fashion.
• Ability to problem solve, think critically, and have an independent working mindset.
• Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise.
• Strong computer skills including general typing and data entry.
• The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with governmental agencies and their representatives.
