Position Details

The Deerfield Police Department is seeking applications for the full-time position of Community Service Officer. This is a civilian position and requires shift work including weekends and holidays.

Starting Salary:

$52,505 with top pay of $61,771 achieved after two years

Duties Include, but are not limited to:

• Assist with traffic control at accidents, fires, special events, and school crossings
• Parking enforcement and fee collection at the Deerfield Metra Parking Lots
• Evidence and property maintenance
• Animal control
• Respond to service calls and complete reports
• Assist in dispatch center; received 9-1-1 and non-emergency calls for Deerfield, Bannockburn, and Riverwoods
• Dispatch and monitor police units using New World Systems, CAD, and radio equipment

Requirements:

• H.S. Diploma or GED, college degree preferred
• Police experience preferred
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ability to multi-task and work under pressure
• Type 25 WPM
• Satisfactory completion polygraph, medical, and psychological exams
