  Starting salary is determined by the current Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) collective bargaining agreement.

  Contractual Increase: $70,862.70 (Effective November 1, 2026)

Position Details

To be eligible for a lateral transfer, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Age must me at least 21 years of age.
• Must possess a current, valid Illinois Law Enforcement Certification form the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board (ILETSB).
• Must be currently employed (or recently separated in good standing) as a full-time sworn officer in an Illinois Law Enforcement Agency.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• Must possess a High School Diploma or GED. 

Hiring process includes , but is not limited to:

1. Through Background Investigation (Criminal history, employment, and character refences)
2. Polygraph Examination
3. Comprehensive Medical Evaluation
4. Psychological Evaluation
5. Oral Interviews
