Police Officer - Lateral Hire

• 2 or more years of  service/employment as a full time officer
• Current ILETSB full time certification
• U.S. citizenship -OR- legally authorized to work in the United States;
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language;
• Be of good moral character, of temperate habits, and have not been convicted of a felony of any nature or convicted of a misdemeanor involving moral turpitude, including but not limited to those cited in the provisions of 65 ILCS 5/10-2.1-6.3(i), or convicted of multiple misdemeanors of any nature;
• Have 20/20 vision in both eyes -OR- correctable to 20/20 with corrective lenses in both eyes;
• Valid Illinois state-issued driver's license (must be a minimum of a Class D license with no restrictions except for corrective eye lenses) or the equivalent from another state;
• Have successfully completed a associate's degree with at least sixty semester hours from an accredited college or university with at least a cumulative GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale;
• Be of sound health and the ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation;
• Must successfully complete all requirements as set forth by the Personnel Board and Illinois Compiled Statutes including but not limited to:
• oral interview
• in-depth background investigation
• polygraph test
• psychological assessment
• medical examination including a drug test screening
