Position Details

City of Blue Island Police Department Lateral-Entry Patrol Officer Recruitment

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must:

• Be currently certified as a full-time sworn Law Enforcement Officer, as verified by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board
• Have two (2) years of continuous service as a full-time sworn police officer in a municipal, county, university, or State law enforcement agency
• Possess a valid Illinois Driver's License
• Possess a valid FOID card
• Have fewer than two (2) chargeable vehicle accidents within the past 36 months
• Have no DUI convictions and no loss of license due to a moving violation within the past 36 months
• Have no felony convictions
• Have no domestic-related convictions
• Have no convictions involving moral turpitude as defined in 65 ILCS 5/10-2.1-6
• Maintain a clean disciplinary record, including no sustained violations involving:
• Excessive force
• Dishonesty (lying, stealing)
• Alcohol or drug impairment on or off duty
• A sustained violation is defined as a finding by a law enforcement investigative body that it was more likely true than not that the accused committed the alleged act
