• Hiring Range: +/- $62,100 - $75,000, Depending on qualifications and experience

  Starting salary will be reflective of the range of position based on date of hire.

Position Details

The Village of Northbrook is seeking a detail-oriented Records Clerk to accurately compile, update, and maintain essential records for the Police Department.

This position also assists in facilitating effective communication with the public to support citizen satisfaction and positive community relations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Compile responses for Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests including body cam footage.
• Provide records or copies to police staff, the public, or insurance companies in accordance with FOIA.
• Maintain accurate paper and digital records, including police reports, citations, and arrest documentation.
• Perform data entry and update the records management system.
• Assist the public in person and by phone; answer questions or direct inquiries as needed.
• Organize and manage filing systems for department records.
• Receive and distribute incoming mail, packages, and emails with in regards to FOIA requests.
• Upload and manage digital media files in relevant databases.
• Conduct searches of individuals in custody, following department policy. 

Must haves for the ideal candidate include:

• License(s) and/or Certification(s):
• Must possess a valid State of Illinois Class D drivers' license.
• Must possess or be able to obtain LEADS Specialized Agency Inquiry Certification.
• Education and Experience:
• Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• A minimum of 2-3 years experience of Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) experience is preferred.
