The City of Woodstock is a charming historic community of 25,653, located 55 miles northwest of Chicago on Metra rail. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Woodstock is a community unlike any other, boasting historic 19th century buildings, dining, entertainment, accommodations, specialty shops, professional services, art galleries, and live theater.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Citizenship/Work Authorization: Must be a United States citizen, Naturalized citizen, Lawful Permanent Resident, or legally authorized under Federal law to work in the US and authorized under Federal law to obtain, carry, or purchase or otherwise possess a firearm.
Driver's License: Must have a valid Driver's License with a good driving record.
Age Requirements: Applicants must have attained their 21st birthday at the last date for filing applications (5/20/2026). Applicants must be under the age of 35 on (5/20/2026) unless exempt by State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2.1-6.
Education: Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) or high school proficiency statement.
Character: Must have no felony convictions and be of good moral character.
Testing: Must be able to participate and successfully complete all stages of the testing process.
Residency: If hired, at the end of the 18-month probationary period must reside within the geographical boundaries described as being from Interstate 39 on the west, to Interstate 88 on the south, to Interstate 94/294 to the east, and Wisconsin State Road 50/Interstate 43 in Wisconsin to the north.
POWER Card: Candidates must possess a valid POWER Card by the time of conditional offer of employment. McHenry County College (MCC) will offer an opportunity to complete the POWER test. POWER Test Cards issued by NIPSTA, Triton College, Joliet Junior College, or McHenry County College will be accepted.

AFTER TESTING PROCESS – NEXT STEPS:

The Woodstock Board of Police Commissioners anticipates holding interviews shortly after the June 7th McHenry County Consortium Police Testing date.
