You must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Citizenship: Must be a Citizen of the United States or an individual who has permanent resident status and is legally authorized to work in the United States. Must under federal law, be authorized to obtain, carry, purchase, or otherwise possess a firearm.
- Driver's License: Must possess a valid Driver’s License at the time of application with the ability to obtain an Illinois Driver’s License upon time of hire.
- Age Requirement: Applicant must have attained their 21st birthday by the last date for filing applications (6/3/26) unless they are 20 and have completed two (2) years of law enforcement studies at an accredited college or university. Applicants must be under the age of 35 years old at the last date of filing applications (6/3/26) and at such time as the final eligibility list is posted, unless exempt by State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2.1-6., which provides in part that the age limitation does not apply to any person previously employed as a Certified (full-time) Law Enforcement Officer for a municipality in the United States.
- Education: Must have proof of High School Diploma, GED Certificate, or High School Proficiency Statement.
- Character: Must have no felony convictions and possess good moral character suitable to the role of a law enforcement officer. Must have no felony convictions and be of good moral character as described in State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2.1-6. Must not have committed any felony, certain misdemeanors, or crimes involving moral turpitude and be of good moral character pursuant to 50 ILCS 705/6.
- Testing: Must be able to successfully complete all phases of testing.
- Vision: Binocular vision must be correctable to 20/20.
- Residency: The Village of Lemont Police Department does not have an established residency requirement at this time for their employees.
- Valid P.O.W.E.R. CARD is required at the time of application, card must be issued between the dates of 6/3/25 – 6/3/26.

There is a $20.00 non-refundable application fee. Applications are NOT available at the Lemont Police Department or Village Hall.

PLEASE NOTE: There will be two (2) dates available for testing. You must select and attend one of the days.
