Starting: $34.38/hour
After 6 months $35.15/hour. An increase will also be given after 1 year in the position and annual increases thereafter in accordance with the Labor Agreement.

The City of Aurora is accepting applications and has opened testing to establish an eligibility list for the position of Court Detention Technician (non-sworn) in the Aurora Police Department.
Under the supervision of the Court Detention Supervisors, the Court Detention Technician performs a variety of law enforcement support duties in a municipal corrections environment.
Duties of this position may include but are not limited to:
Tattoos to the head, neck and facial area are prohibited. Hand tattoos are not allowed, however, there are very limited exceptions with approval from the Chief of Police.
Officers [Police Dept. Personnel] are permitted to have tattoos elsewhere, visible to the public, if the tattoo is not objectionable or demeaning to the image of the Department.
The nature, number, size, and location of the tattoos are all factors in determining whether such tattoos are objectionable or demeaning.
Examples include but are not limited to tattoos that:
The covering of objectionable tattoos with make-up, sleeves, Band-Aids, etc., shall not constitute conforming to this policy. All tattoos shall be covered for court appearances.

There will be an orientation on July 9th, 2026, for candidates who have successfully submitted their application and received a passing score on their exam. Candidates will be notified and given more details regarding the orientation during the week of June 22nd.
Candidates will be scheduled for the physical agility test at the orientation.

There will be two (2) dates offered to attend and complete the physical agility test* (P.O.W.E.R Test):
The physical agility test* is administered to measure physical capabilities that consist of a sit and reach test, 1 minute sit-up test, 1 repetition maximum bench press, and a 1.5 mile run.
