The City of Park Ridge is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Police Social Worker within the Park Ridge Police Department. This position plays a vital role in supporting individuals and families experiencing crisis, mental health challenges, domestic violence, and other difficult situations by providing intervention, advocacy, referrals, and short-term counseling services.

The Police Social Worker works closely with police personnel, schools, courts, healthcare providers, and community organizations to connect residents with appropriate resources and support services.

Key Responsibilities:

• Respond to incidents involving individuals experiencing mental health crises or other critical situations alongside police personnel
• Provide crisis intervention, short-term counseling, advocacy, and referrals to community resources
• Assess individuals and families to determine appropriate services and support plans
• Coordinate access to services and monitor client progress
• Serve as a liaison between the Police Department and community agencies, schools, courts, and healthcare providers
• Maintain case documentation, reports, and records
• Attend court appearances and provide advocacy services as needed
• Assist with social service support during large-scale critical incidents
• Participate in on-call crisis response as needed

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a closely related field
• Minimum of two years of social work or related experience required
• Experience in mental health, domestic abuse, or crime victim advocacy preferred
• Licensed Social Worker (LSW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Clinical Professional (LCP) or Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) required
