Position Details

The Village of Riverdale Police Department is seeking highly motivated, driven officers who are ready to take an assertive role in law enforcement.

We are an aggressive, proactive police department that doesn't shy away from real police work. Our officers are expected to be visible, engaged, and relentless in their efforts to hold offenders accountable and keep our community safe. Every Riverdale officer receives Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) training, giving them the skills and confidence to safely end vehicle pursuits when appropriate.

Requirements: 

• You must be certified by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training Standards Board, or be certified by another state where training and experience would qualify you to become certified.
• Military police laterals may qualify for law enforcement certification in Illinois through the ILETSB waiver process.
• To be eligible, candidates must have experience as a military police officer (active duty or reserve), have completed a basic law enforcement training program, and be in good standing with no disciplinary issues.
• They must also meet standard requirements such as age, residency, character, health, and have enough service time as determined by ILETSB.
• Part-time Officers who can complete an 80 transition course are also eligible to apply.
• Have a minimum of two (2) consecutive years of full-time experience with the same agency and have been employed within the last four (4) years as a sworn officer.
• Be a US citizen
• Be at least 23 years old
• Be under the age of 43 to apply
• Be a high school graduate or possess a GED equivalent
• Possess a valid driver's license 

Must comply and successfully complete:

• Character background investigation
• Psychological
• Medical examination, etc.
