Position Details

Seeking Full-Time and Part-Time Certified Officers Only

This position requires a variety of responsibilities including but not limited to, protective service work in the prevention, detection, and investigation of crime while actively promoting and directing citizen involvement in these efforts.

The ability to understand and carry out complex oral and written instruction, exercise initiative and discretion in emergency situations, use firearms, make decisions based upon department policy and training, deal with the public in a tactful manner, and communicate orally and in writing are necessary to perform this job. All candidates must be able to successfully complete the Momence Police Departments 8-week Field Training Program.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Candidates must be 21 years of age
• A citizen of the United States
• Possess a valid driver's license
• Be of strong moral and ethical standards, personally and professionally
• A high school diploma or equivalent is required
• An Associate's Degree or higher is preferred
• Participation in and successful completion of all stages of the testing process, including, but not limited to, oral interview, extensive background investigation, and post offer drug test is required
• Conviction of a felony or certain misdemeanors, as defined by statute, will disqualify candidates from consideration. 

Candidates who hold a current, valid State Certification as a Law Enforcement Officer, (Full-Time or Part-Time), in accordance with ILCS 50/705, may be given hiring preference.
