Position Details

The Village of Manhattan, Illinois is accepting applications for the position of police officer with the Manhattan Police Department.

All applicants must meet the following minimum requirements established by the Village of Manhattan:

• U.S. citizenship;
• Not have been convicted of a felony, a crime of moral turpitude, or any misdemeanor specifically listed in Section 10-2.1-6 of the Act, 65 ILCS 5/10-2.16 as amended. Note: The applicant understands that the Village is not requesting, nor should the applicant disclose expunged juvenile records of adjudication or arrest;
• Valid driver's license;
• Minimum of 23 years of age and UNDER 35 years of age at the time of appointment (unless otherwise exempt by Statute);
• Be a high school graduate or possess a G.E.D. equivalent;
• Attend mandatory written examination testing to be held on Saturday, April 4, 2020 at 9:00 AM;
• Pay a $45.00 non-refundable application processing fee;
• Applications MUST be submitted online by Thursday, March 26, 2020 @ 4:00 PM (CST). Faxed, e-mailed, mailed or dropped off applications will NOT be accepted. 

Preference points will be awarded by the Village of Manhattan for any one of the following categories:

• Military experience
• Education
• Law Enforcement Experience
