Position Details

The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners for the City of Oak Forest now accepting applications for the position of Pre-Certified Police Officer.

Testing is being conducted for an immediate need to hire.

You must meet the following minimum requirements:

• Citizenship:  Must be a U.S. Citizen
• Driver’s License:  Must possess a valid Driver’s License at the time of application.
• Education:  Must have proof of High School Diploma, GED Certificate or High School Proficiency Statement.
• Experience:  Must be a current Full-Time Certified (by the Illinois Law Enforcement Standards and Training Board) Sworn Law Enforcement Officer with at least three (3) years experience (minimum of two (2) years with current department) in a municipality, county, university, or State law enforcement agency in the State of Illinois.
• Character:  Must have no felony convictions and be of good moral character as described in State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2.1-6.
• Residence:  At this time there are no stated requirements for residency declared by the City of Oak Forest
• Testing:  Must be able to successfully complete all phases of testing which may include a polygraph and psychological Examination.
• P.O.W.E.R. Card:  Candidates must possess a valid P.O.W.E.R. Card issued between the dates of 3/18/19 and 4/15/20. (Cards can be obtained at NIPSTA www.nipsta.com, Triton College www.triton.edu/power, or Joliet Junior College 815-280-2674)
• Must posses a valid Firearms Owner Identification (FOID) card (by time of hire)
