Position Details

The Municipal Consolidated Dispatch (MCD) center located in Harwood Heights, Illinois is currently seeking qualified persons for the position of full-time Emergency Communications Telecommunicator (ECT) and establish a pool of qualified candidates.

MCD serves as the Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) for the Villages of Harwood Heights, Norridge, Schiller Park, and provides dispatching services for the Norwood Park Fire Protection District (three police departments and two fire agencies). MCD handles requests for police, fire, emergency medical assistance, and after-hours public works notifications. All personnel are cross-trained.

SUMMARY OF REQUIREMENTS:

• Applicants must have obtained a high school diploma or equivalent
• Must be able to type at least 30 WPM
• Must be able to work any shift, including weekends and holidays
• Must be able to read, write, speak, articulate the English language
• Successful applicants must pass applicant testing/screening, background investigation, pre-employment physical to include drug screening, and meet industry recommended hearing standards
• Must be able to obtain Law Enforcement Agency Data Systems (LEADS) Full- Access certification within three months of employment
• Must be able to obtain CPR/Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) certification and state licensing requirements within three months of employment
• Must be available to attend an information/orientation session on March 24, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. to move forward through the selection/screening process. The location and further instructions will be provided upon application closing date.
