Position Details

The Civil Service Commission for the Village of North Riverside is now  accepting applications for the position of:  Police Officer

Testing is being conducted for anticipated hiring needs and to establish a new Eligibility List for future hiring.

The North Riverside Police Department provides 24-hour services and protection in an area encompassing approximately 2.5 miles including a large retail shopping area. The mission of the North Riverside Police Department is to provide essential services, preserve peace and order, reduce the occurrence and impact of crime, facilitate traffic safety and protect the constitutional rights of all persons.  In support of this mission, they strive to work closely with the community in order to enhance the safety of its citizens and provide the highest level of service.

You must meet the following minimum requirements:

• Citizenship:  Must be a U.S. Citizen or legally authorized to work in the U.S. and provides evidence of intention to become a U.S Citizen.
• Driver’s License:  Must have a valid Driver’s License with the ability to obtain an Illinois Driver’s License upon time of hire.
• Age Requirements:  Applicants must have attained their 21st birthday by the last date for filing applications (4/29/20).  Applicants must be under the age of 35 at the last date for filing applications (4/29/20), and at such time as the Final Eligibility List is posted unless exempt from such age limitations as provided in Section 5/0-7 and 5/10-1-12 of the Civil Service Act.
• Education:  Must have a High School Diploma, GED or High School Proficiency Statement
• Character:  Must have no felony convictions and be of good moral character
• Testing:  Must be able to participate and successfully complete all stages of the testing process
• Residence:  At this time there is no stated requirements for residency declared by the Village of North Riverside.
• P.O.W.E.R. CARD NOT REQUIRED: However, candidates that do possess a valid P.O.W.E.R. Card issued between the dates of 10/08/2019 and 04/29/2020 WILL be exempt from taking the Physical Ability Test on the day of testing.  Preferred Vendor Triton www.triton.edu/POWER, NIPSTA www.nipsta.org, or Joliet Jr. College www.jjc.edu/about-jjc/facilities/power-testing
