PART-TIME COMMUNITY SERVICE OFFICER POSITION

The Flossmoor, IL Police Department is seeking a candidate for the position of part-time Community Service Officer.

This is a 20 hour per week position with no additional benefits. Starting pay is $17.81 per hour. Uniforms and equipment are provided.

The candidate has to be able to work Monday – Friday 7:00 am to 11:00 am. The schedule may vary during training and special Village events (weekends and/or holidays). Availability for special events will be mandatory.

JOB SUMMARY:

The part-time Community Service Officer (CSO) is a non-sworn employee, responsible for:

• Traffic direction in the downtown business district. 
• Providing general support for the police department and service to residents through community policing.
• Enforcing the ordinances of the Village, including parking, animal complaints, and other Village codes. 
• Assisting with animal control including capturing and transporting them. 
• Providing general assistance to citizens and the community. 
• The CSO also fulfills the many and varied requests from administration, detectives and office personnel for business-related errands outside of the police facility. 
• Duties involve a substantial amount of driving. 
• Applicant must have the ability to work outside in all types of weather conditions. 
• Ability to efficiently and courteously interact with people and have the ability to handle social crisis situations in a tactful manner. 
• Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing.

Requirements to Apply:

• Applicants must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
• Must be at least 19 years of age.
• Able to successfully pass an oral interview, background investigation, and medical examination.
• Must have a valid Driver’s License
• Have the ability to acquire a LEADS less Than Full Access Certification upon appointment.
