The Naperville Police Department is currently accepting applications for the position of police officer.

The application deadline is Friday, July 15, 2016 at 2:00 p.m.

• $32 non-refundable application fee;
• Be a United States citizen;
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED);
• Applicants must have completed at least sixty (60) credit hours at an accredited college or university at time of application and possess a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university at the time of appointment (original, official transcripts required as proof);
• Possess a valid driver's license, which will be used for identification at all phases of testing;
• Be 21 years of age, but not older than 35 years of age by the date of orientation, unless applicant falls under one of the exemptions to the maximum hiring age;
• Applicant must provide a valid POWER Test ID card - POWER test cards considered valid if issued between January 15, 2016 and July 15, 2016 (six months prior to date of application). POWER test cards may be obtained from one of the following agencies:

• Attend orientation and all phases of testing;
• Possess good moral character suitable to the role of a law enforcement officer;
• Pass a polygraph test;
• Pass a thorough background investigation;
• Pass a medical examination and psychological assessment;
• Meet the vision requirement of uncorrected 20/100 correctable to 20/20 and not be color blind;
• Meet all requirements of the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners and the State of Illinois.

The mandatory orientation will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., and the written exam will take place between 9:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.  The examinations will be scored off-site by IOS Recruitment.

Candidates who pass the written examination will be placed on an Initial Eligibility List and further screened for appointment as determined by the Board of Fire & Police Commissioners, which may include oral interview with a writing assessment component, polygraph screening, background check, psychological assessment and medical examination.
