CHICAGO HEIGHTS PARK DISTRICT POLICE DEPARTMENT CANDIDATES MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• CANDIDATES AGE: Must be 21 years of age at time of appointment. Applicants shall be under 35 years of age at the time of application. Must be a legal resident of the United States.
• CANDIDATES DRIVER'S LICENSE: Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license.
• CANDIDATES EDUCATION: A High School Diploma (or G.E.D.) is required plus 60 semester/credit hours in law enforcement, courses taken to transfer toward a four-year degree, or other related courses from an accredited College or University. This may be waived if the applicant served 24 months of honorable active duty in the United States Armed Forces or has served for 180 days of active duty in the United States Armed Forces in combat duty recognized by the Department of Defense and is still in active status or has been honorably discharged.
• CANDIDATES EXPERIENCE: Must be currently employed as a full-time and/or part-time sworn Police Officer in good standing with any municipal, county, university, or state law enforcement agency at the time of their application.
• CANDIDATES CERTIFICATIONS: Must have a State of Illinois certification or waiver by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board with no more than forty (40) hours of training required by that Board for re-certification, if necessary. Full-time and Part-time certification as an Illinois law enforcement does meet this requirement.
• CANDIDATES PHYSICAL APTITUDE: Must be able to perform the duties of the position.
• CANDIDATES MORAL CHARACTER: Be of good moral character with no felony convictions.
• CANDIDATES MORAL CONDUCT: Must be able to follow instructions, directions and/or orders from superior officers
• CANDIDATES MORAL DUTIES: Must be able to comply with all requirements of the position (conditions of employment, policy, rules and regulations and have the ability to pass all examinations and all Illinois Law Enforcement Training & Standards Board training requirements. 

CANDIDATES SCHEDULE HOURS:

• Primary: 3:00 PM – 9:00 PM – two weekend per month and two workdays a week on off weekends.
• Secondary: 3:00 PM – 9:00 PM – extra details for special events weekdays and weekends.
