Position Details

The City of Glendale, Arizona is seeking a dynamic, innovative Assistant Police Chief to serve as an advisor to the Police Chief and perform administrative and managerial work of substantial difficulty in planning and directing the activities and operations of large command bureaus in the police department.

The Assistant Chief is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Department and assumes the duties of the Chief in his/her absence.

Requires Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Management or related field and at least two years of experience as a Chief in a department supervising at least 100 officers or as a Captain or Assistant Chief in a comparable organization and community. Preference will be given for a related Master’s degree. Certification as an Arizona Police Officer and ability to continuously meet all APOST standards required.
