Position Details

Moody Bible Institute is accepting applications for the position of Police Officer with the police department on their downtown Chicago campus.

Applicants must be regularly attending or members of an evangelical church.

Application and Testing Instructions:

• Attendance at testing process is mandatory for non-certified applicants, POWER cards not accepted.
• Applications must be completed in full, including the faith-based and church attendance questions. Applicants with answers, “Will discuss in interview” and “N/A” will not meet minimum requirements.

Following completion of all application materials and review of minimum qualifications, successful applicants will be invited to attend the following:

• Physical agility test and written exam held Saturday March 16, 2019. Doors open at 7:30 AM. Agility test begins at 8:00 AM – Further details will be provided to eligible candidates prior to testing.
• Refer to Peace Officer Wellness Evaluation Report (P.O.W.E.R.) test requirements for details about the physical agility test.
• After Successful Physical agility test, applicants required to participate in written examination.

Primary Functions:

The most important and essential job function of the position is attitude which includes the following: interacting positively and cooperating with co-workers, responding politely to customers, working as a team member, functioning under intense time pressure and responding in a positive manner to supervision. A police officer in this position is required to meet the primary duties of the pursuit, apprehension, and arrest of law violators or suspected law violators until custody is 
transferred to the Chicago Police Department.

Minimum Requirements:

• Regularly attending or members of an evangelical church
• College degree or two years of job related experience
• Valid driver’s license and responsible driving record
• 21 years of age
• No felony convictions; must pass a thorough background check including fingerprinting
• Must complete basic police academy training & complete on-the-job field officer training probation period
• Pass required physical fitness standard, written examination, oral interview, medical exam and psychological evaluation
