The City of Champaign, Illinois is currently accepting applications for the position of Probationary Firefighter with the Champaign Fire Department.

The Champaign Fire Department is a full-service career department comprised of more than 100 sworn firefighters covering a jurisdiction of 20 square miles from six stations. The Department serves more than 87,000 residents plus an additional 40,000 university students, responding to over 8,000 calls annually covering fire, rescue, hazardous materials, medical and large-scale incidents. • Submit $50.00 non-refundable application fee or apply and qualify for a full application fee waiver;
• Upload required documents designated with * below to National Testing Network account by October 2, 2020;
• Complete the FireTEAM exam through National Testing Network by October 30, 2020.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• U.S. Citizen or legally authorized to work in the U.S. (must meet USCIS Form I-9 requirements at time of hire);
• Valid Driver’s License *;
• High School Diploma or equivalent *;
• Signed attestation form available in posting at www.nationaltestingnetwork.com *;
• Be less than 35 years of age by the date of the written examination, unless otherwise exempt by state statute and at least 21 years of age by date of hire;
• Provide proof of completion of Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) and Ladder Climb Test with any licensed agency issued no more than 12 months prior by December 18, 2020. CPAT and Ladder Climb certification must also be valid at the time of conditional offer of employment;
• No felony convictions; no misdemeanors related to fire/arson;
• If hired, must be certified as a Firefighter II or Basic Firefighter by the State of Illinois by the end of probation.
