Waukegan PD is Hiring!

The City of Waukegan has a population of 89,078 and is situated midway between Chicago and Milwaukee on the shores of Lake Michigan.  Waukegan was incorporated in 1849 and is a rich, culturally diverse city.

The Waukegan Police Department's current strength is 145 sworn officers and 189 total employees. Our department offers opportunities for experience in all facets of law enforcement including: patrol, investigations, traffic, K9, gang intelligence, narcotics, and neighborhood policing. In addition, some Waukegan Police Officers are assigned to regional task forces with DEA and ICE.

The Waukegan Police Department will be accepting applications for police officers.

Police Officer Requirements:

Applicants must:

• Be able to successfully pass a physical fitness test, written examination, psychological screening, medical and drug test, extensive personal interview and background examination
• Be a United States Citizen
• Be at least 20 years of age at time of written exam; Be at least 21 years of age at time of hire
• Have a high school diploma or equivalent (GED) education
• Have a valid driver's license
• Be of good moral character

Waukegan Police Jobs and Recruitment

Applicants will be required to attain a Peace Officer Wellness Evaluation Report (P.OW.E.R.) test card dated between November 21, 2019 and November 21, 2020.

This card can be obtained through:

• Joliet Junior College
• Triton College

Testing location will be released to eligible candidates.
