Position Details

The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners for the Village of University Park are now accepting applications for the position of Police Officer.

Testing is being conducted for an immediate need to hire Police Officers and to establish an Eligibility List for anticipated hiring needs.

The University Park Police Department’s mission is to provide the community with professional police services in a partnership with the citizens while respecting the rights and dignity of all persons.  They demonstrate their commitment in protecting and serving their citizens while providing the quality of life identified for a safe and growing village.

You must meet the following minimum requirements:

• Citizenship:  Must be a U.S. Citizen
• Driver’s License:  Must possess a valid Driver’s License at the time of application and at time of hire.
• Age Requirement: Applicants must have attained their 21st birthday by the last date of filing applications (9/30/20).  Applicants must be under 35 years old at the last date for filing applications on 9/30/20 and at such time as the Final Eligibility is posted, unless they have been employed and certified as a full-time police officer in a municipality in the United States or are otherwise exempt by State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2.1-6.
• Education:  Must have proof of High School Diploma, GED Certificate or High School Proficiency Statement.
• Character:  Must have no felony convictions and be of good moral character described in State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2.1-6.
• Residence:  Must reside within a (30) mile radius of the University Park Village Hall within one year of your employment date.
• Testing:  Must be able to successfully complete all phases of testing.

Note: There will not be a physical examination conducted on the day of testing and the community is not requiring applicants to possess a valid P.O.W.E.R. Card at the time of testing.  Physical Fitness Testing may be established at a future date.

There is a $35.00 non-refundable application fee.  Applications are NOT available at the University Park Police Department or Village Hall.
