Police Officer

Minimum Requirements:

• $25.00 non-refundable application fee
• U.S. Citizenship
• Valid Driver’s license
• Must be 21 years of age and less than 35 years of age at time of written exam (5.4.19). Applicants who are currently police officers, or have previously been police officers, and are less than 40 years of age, are exempt from the 35-year age limit
• Must have a current and valid POWER test card issued within 12 months prior to the written exam (considered valid only if issued 5.4.18-5.4.19). Cards are accepted from NIPSTA, Joliet Junior College, and Triton College. 

Must have ONE of the following:

• At least 60 semester (90 quarter) hours of credit from a college or university accredited by one of the six regional accrediting bodies responsible for evaluating two and four year institutions that grant associate’s or bachelor’s degrees
• At least 30 semester (45 quarter) hours from a college or university accredited by one of the six regional accrediting bodies responsible for evaluating two and four year institutions that grant associate’s or bachelor’s degrees AND one (1) year of continuous active military duty in the armed forces of the United States
• Four (4) years of continuous active military duty in the armed forces of the United States
• Current service as a police officer certified by the State of Illinois and actively working for not less than two (2) years for a regularly constituted police department of an Illinois municipality 

Required Documentation due 4/4/19 at 4:00 PM (mailed or hand delivery only):

• Completed online application (available after purchase)
• Consent and release agreement (available after purchase)
• Copy of valid driver’s license
• Copy of birth record
• Copy of valid POWER test card
• POWER test card may be provided at the test if a POWER Test is completed after April 4, 2019, but before the test starts on May 4, 2019"
• Original, official college transcripts and/or DD-214 long form 

Orientation and Testing:

Saturday, May 4, 2019

Sign-in begins at 8:00 AM and closes at 8:30 AM

No late admittance. Please bring a photo-ID with you to sign-in. Testing will take place in Skokie, IL. The exact testing location will be provided to eligible candidates approximately one week prior to the exam date.

Application Process Information:

You will receive a confirmation number once you complete and submit your online application; save this number for your records. You will also need to print and sign the required release forms and gather the required documentation listed above for submission to IOS Recruitment by 4:00 PM on April 4, 2019. Application fees are non refundable.
