Firefighter/Paramedic Minimum Requirements:

• $25.00 non-refundable application processing fee;
• U.S. Citizenship;
• Be a high school graduate or equivalent (GED) at time of application;
• Possess a valid driver's license, which will be used for identification at all phases of testing;
• Be at least twenty (20) years of age, but not older than thirty-five (35) years of age except as otherwise provided by IL State Statute. Note that the minimum age for appointment to the position of firefighter/paramedic is twenty-one (21);
• Pass a background investigation, medical examination, and a psychological assessment;
• Licensed as an Illinois EMT-Paramedic at time of conditional job offer;
• Must have successfully completed the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) and Ladder Climb Exercise within the one-year period prior to the date of the application deadline. Certifications are considered valid if issued 10/09/2019- 10/09/2020;
• Residency within corporate limits of Litchfield within six (6) months of hire required

Testing Information:

The Litchfield Fire Department will be offering in home testing to all eligible candidates mid-November. There will be multiple sessions offered and each will be proctored virtually. Eligible candidates will receive an email with instructions on how to schedule and prepare for the exam. Additional information will be provided to those eligible to test.
