Position Details

The Board of Fire and Police Commissioners for the Village of Broadview is now accepting applications for the position of Entry Level Law Enforcement.

Testing is being conducted for anticipated immediate hiring needs and to establish an Eligibility List for additional hiring.

Broadview has a “small-town” feel while existing only 13 miles away from the hustle and bustle of Chicago.  Broadview’s suburban setting offers respite from the big city, yet its location puts restaurants, sports arenas, shopping centers and convention/meeting facilities just minutes away.

You must meet the following minimum requirements:

• Citizenship:  Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Driver’s License:  Must possess a valid Driver’s License at the time of application with the ability to obtain an Illinois Driver’s License upon time of hire.
• Age Requirement:  Applicants MUST have attained their 21st birthday by the last date for filing applications (11/18/20). Applicants must be under the age of 35 years at the time of application (11/18/20) unless exempt by State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2. 1-6 which provides, in part, that the age limitation does not apply to any person previously employed as a full-time police officer for a municipality in the United States.
• Education:  Must have proof of High School Diploma, GED Certificate or High School Proficiency Statement.
• Character: Must have no felony convictions and be of good moral character as described in State Statute 65 IL 5/10-2.1-6.
• Residence:  The Village of Broadview does not have a residency requirement at this time.
• All applicants must possess a valid P.O.W.E.R. Card issued between the dates of 11/18/19 and 11/18/20; NIPSTA www.nipsta.org, Triton www.triton.edu/power; Joliet Jr. College 815-280-2674.

There is a $35.00 non-refundable application fee.  Applications are NOT available at the Broadview Police Department or Village Hall.
