Position Details

The Village of Algonquin, IL (Pop. 30,046) is accepting applications for full-time Entry Level Police Officer candidates.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Possess a valid driver's license
• Be a United States citizen and/or alien admitted for permanent residence or lawfully admitted for temporary residence and who produces evidence of intention to become a citizen of the United States
• Meet the age requirements set forth in the Illinois State Statute 65 ILCS 5/10-2.1-6, (upon appointment of employment be 21 years of age or older and have not reached their 35th birthday, unless they meet the exemptions under the statute)
• Possess an Associate's degree or have completed at least 60 semester or 90 quarter hours of college pursuing a Bachelor's degree (college degree requirements are waived for current military members or veterans with their DD-214)
• Possess no record of felony conviction or crime of moral turpitude

After your application is submitted you will be contacted via email by village staff with a calendar link to schedule your testing date/time so be sure to add @algonquin.org to your spam filter.

Applicants must present a U.S. federal or state-issued photo ID card or driver's license to enter the testing site. College, university, library, and other non-governmental IDs are not acceptable. The doors will be closed and locked promptly at the testing time and any applicant arriving after the specified time will not be allowed to enter. The entire testing process may include a physical fitness test, written test, oral interview, polygraph, psychological test, medical exam, and any other exams deemed necessary by the Police Department.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:

A $20.00 non-refundable application processing fee (credit card, check, or cash accepted) is due when your application is submitted. The processing fee will be waived for current members of the military or veterans.

In addition to the application, you are required to submit a copy of your driver's license, college transcripts (if applicable), DD-214 or a copy of your current military ID, and a resume.

Applications (with the processing fee and all required documents) must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 27, 2021.

Applications e-mailed, faxed, or submitted after the deadline will NOT be accepted.
