Job Summary

Observes, studies, and assists Federal Reserve Law Enforcement Officers (FRLEOs) in an effort to learn the job duties required of a FRLEOMust be able to travel for six weeks to attend basic training course (training starts on July 15, 2019). Completes required training. Supports FRLEOs as they protect the property, personnel and operations of the Bank. Develops working knowledge of policies, procedures, processes, and technology necessary to perform Law Enforcement functions. Individuals in this position are not armed until they are sworn in as FRLEOs. The level of work required is considered entry level and staff must be able to work under close supervision. This job does not have any direct reports.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Learns and trains to operate as a law enforcement officer pursuant to the authority given the Board of Governors by Section 11 (q) of the Federal Reserve Act; authorized personnel act as law enforcement officers pursuant to the regulations of the Board of Governors and approved by the U.S. Attorney General (Uniform Regulations for Federal Reserve Law Enforcement Officers) •Becomes familiar with Seventh District policies and procedures in support of FRLEO Regulations •Learns and assists FRLEO with patrol and post operations
  • Trains on the proper use of firearms and other Law Enforcement equipment
  • Develops proficiency in use of PC and related software, computerized access and controls systems, video surveillance equipment, x-ray and metal screening equipment and various alarm systems
  • Demonstrates skills learned in training on the job and performs other duties as assigned Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least two years work experience in military, security, or law enforcement preferred; higher levels of education in lieu of experience may be considered
  • An Honorable Discharge for any past U.S. military service, where applicable Knowledge and Skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills are desirable Other Requirements and Physical Requirements
  • Successful completion of an initial, and any subsequent, criminal background check
  • Must pass pre-employment psychological and physical examinations administered by Bank-designated physicians
  • Must pass initial and subsequent drug tests based on nationally accepted drug screening standards
  • Successful completion of the Fit for Duty Exam as detailed in our Fit for Duty document* (please reference the Fit for Duty Exam document during initial screening, if selected)
  • Minimum age of 21, permitted under Federal law to possess firearms and ammunition
  • Must be available to work overtime and/or be on call for additional shifts including nights, weekends, weekdays or holidays, as needed
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Wears appropriate uniform and carries and operates all issued equipment as outlined in LEU policies and procedures and FRSLE Training Manual
  • Maintains a record of satisfactory attendance and punctuality
  • Some exposure to noise conditions when qualifying for weapons, exposure to work outside; may work in inclement weather conditions (i.e. cold, heat, rain, etc.)
  • Under the appearance policy of the Law Enforcement Unit, any and all tattoo(s) on your head, face, hands and neck which are visible above the uniform collar are not permitted.
